Permalinks are better than 66 characters in the search engine. And if 3 characters are reduced then you can add 3 characters in your permalink.
Make sure one thing is redirected from your website or blog non-www URL to the www URL. It is very important.

WordPress automates this work and 90% of cases do not require manual redirection.
But also ensure that you have submitted your website's www as well as non-www URL in Webmaster Tools.
